Metro Junior Wrestling League

Metro Junior Wrestling League started in 1969 with 6 teams, mostly across the Front Range in Denver.  Other teams saw what was happening and after a few years it started expanding from both north and south.  The league became highly competitive and so guidelines and rules were established to organize a league that has now served thousands of wrestling families.

Forty one years later we have some of the original board members and coaches that are still serving in the league such as Pino Bachicha and Dan Jeurgensen, both of whom are inducted into the Colorado Chapter National Hall of Fame for their accomplishments as coaches at both the high school and club level.

We have several wrestlers who have turned into coaches, referees and even some who have been inducted into the Colorado Hall of Fame.  We currently have nearly 1800 wrestlers across 37 different teams including 3 teams from Wyoming.

MJWL prides itself on the fact that we believe that this sport will make better human beings out of those who participate in our program.  It goes without saying that this sport will teach self-reliance, courage, sportsmanship, work ethic and much more.  Therefore it can be stated that this sport among many others will teach life lessons that will be of great value to our members.

We are proud to be a part of Colorado Wrestling!

” More enduringly than any other sport, wrestling teaches self-control and pride. Some have wrestled without great skill – none have wrestled without pride. ”
